I made the students sit in a circle, and I decided to sit down with them. We did a small community circle, but not only that, I asked them about their interests and what they enjoy about the class. | It went well. They told me they already enjoyed the class and told me what they prefer. We made jokes and we laughed all together, as well. That was probably the highlight of my day, to just sit down with the class to get to know them a little more then to just get straight into the activity. | I should have kept more control of the class. What we did was that my team and I discussed together what goals we wanted to implement in our program. We all elaborated the importance of building a positive and safe place for both us the leaders and the students. | Something that went very well was that we all had the same mission which was to help serve the students with a purpose of making them feel good about themselves.
